Words for Wednesday: Albuquerque Turkey

There is nothing meaningful about my song lyrics this week. This week's song is something Zoe learned in school for Thanksgiving and she has been singing it non-stop despite the fact that Thanksgiving is over. It is one of those brain-infecting songs and while I was trying to think of something good for this post these were the only lyrics I could think of. I will spare you a link to the actual music so that if you don't know the song you won't also be infected.

I promise to try to come up with something better for next week, but for now...

Albuquerque Turkey

(sung to the tune of "Clementine")

Albuquerque is a turkey
And he's feathered and he's fine
And he wobbles and he gobbles
and he's absolutely mine.
He's the best pet that you can get..
Better than a dog or cat.
He's my Albuquerque turkey
And I'm awfully proud of that.
He once told me , very frankly
he preferred to be my pet,
not the main course at my dinner,
and I told him not to fret.
And my Albuquerque turkey
is so happy in his bed,
'Cause for our Thanksgiving dinner...
We had egg foo yong instead.

What a cute song! Though I am glad that it's not running through my head all day long. I hate when that happens with kids' songs, drives me nuts.

We were singing this song all week last week. Of course, we don't know all the lyrics, and Madeline actually asked me to find them--I told her I would look online. Turns out I didn't have to look very far! Thanks, Marcy!

Love it! So, did Zoe still eat turkey for Thanksgiving?

I see how that is infectious!

Hilarious! I just sang it for Ollie and he loved it. I can see I will be singing it for days to come.

Amity -- it is cute until you hear it 25 times in a row. Then, not cute. As I am sure you know.

Tracie -- glad I could help you and Maddie out.

Emily -- no, she refused to eat turkey. Really.

Sarah & Charlotte -- yes it is infectious so beware!

:-)

Samantha sang that song (or the words she could remember) all the way to & from Albuquerque this past weekend. It made me think of your week here. She kept saying, "Do you remember the Albuquerque song Zoe taught me?" In my head I kept saying, "Unfortunately I do". Samantha said to me in the car today, "Mommy, I wish Zoe lived here. I wish she lived in our house." Me too (along with her mom).

kare -- I wish we lived in your house too. Or maybe we could get a big house together? That would be fun!
