The official movie description is:
A modern day musical set on the streets of Dublin. Featuring Glen Hansard from the Irish band "The Frames," the film tells the story of a street musician and a Czech immigrant during an eventful week as they write, rehearse and record songs that reveal their unique love story.
It truly is one of the most beautiful love stories I've seen in a long time. And for those who are generally turned off by musicals, in this case the music is so perfectly integrated into the story that I don't even consider it a musical per se. I highly recommend this movie.
Now I am off to check out more music by Glen Hansard and The Frames.

I found this over the weekend, too--unfortunately it was right in the middle of it. I'll have to see when it's on again and check it out. I vaguely remember the movie, but I remember the song they won the Oscar for because I love, love, love it! Ashlee's chorus sang it last year at one of their concerts, and it was so beautiful I started to cry.
I loved 'Once' too. A friend lent me the DVD saying I have to watch it because it's about a street performer (and I am one, too). The scene where the busker runs after a guy who stole money from his bag rang very true - I had that happen to me, too, and it ended the same way as in the movie. From there on the movie kept growing on me as it went on.
All the best,
